AGRED offers consultancies on the management of gamebirds and on the potential of land for gamebird shooting, either for commercial or private usage.
AGRED provides realistic measures and expectations of the potential of management of the gamebirds to deliver sustainable and ethical shooting. Many South Africans base their expectation of gamebird management on Northern Hemisphere practices, which is built on a history of hundreds of years of gamebird management and extensive scientific research on gamebirds over the last 50 years. However, there has been comparatively little gamebird management and research in South Africa where shooting is almost entirely based on harvesting of wild-bred birds. Compared to the Northern Hemisphere, South Africa has many more gamebird species and predators, further complicated by a change from winter to summer rainfall from west to east across a wide range of biome types, generating a wide range of management issues and options.
AGREDs management advice seeks to empower the owner or manager, by establishing and explaining the principles and the measures by which that person can further develop the management of birds and monitor their numbers.
AGRED offers its members discounted rates for such advice.
